Danielle Brown

Danielle Brown has lived in Collingswood since 1997. She moved here from Baltimore, Maryland with her family in hopes to find more opportunity for growth. She knew in an instant that Collingswood is where she wanted to plant her roots and raise her family. Our town gave her the sense of security and warmth she had been searching for. Danielle and her husband Fabian have ten amazing kids and one grand-daughter. Six of their kids have graduated from Collingswood High School and their four younger kids and grand-daughter are currently in all three levels of Collingswood schools. Danielle and her family love going to the beach, eating good food, walking around Knight Park, and playing with their two dogs, Salem and Stella.

Danielle is the Domestic Violence Program Director (Igniting Hope) for the United Advocacy Group. She has dedicated her life’s work to helping survivors of domestic violence through her selfless advocacy. Anyone who knows Danielle would say she is very passionate about her job since she is a survivor herself. She started volunteering as a domestic violence crisis responder in 1999, shortly after moving to Collingswood. After volunteering and leading the crisis team for many years, she was asked to run the domestic violence response team for Camden County in 2017. This was life changing for and her family. Danielle and her team of devoted advocates work day and night to ensure every client is safe from harm.

Danielle has spent many years chairing PTA events for Mark Newbie Elementary and continues to do so. She has also served a four year term as the PTA vice president. She is on Collingswood Police Chief Carey’s Executive Advisory Committee as a liaison to the community. Danielle is on the board for Safe Way Out, a safety and security non-profit to help all victims of crime feel safe in their homes. She is part of the “lived experience” homelessness committee with the Community Planning & Advocacy Council. She is a member of the LGBTQIA+ Domestic Violence Task Force for the New Jersey Coalition to End Domestic Violence. Danielle has also started her own Domestic Violence non-profit called Unbreakable Beginnings. She has been a keynote speaker and trainer for schools, government agencies, and many community partners.

Danielle is excited to be part of the Collingswood Democrat Committee. She loves her community and neighbors and is looking forward to meeting new friends!
